THE RYAN SHAY MEMORIAL FUND
The world suffered a tragic loss on November 3rd, 2007, when 28 year-old Ryan Shay collapsed during the Olympic Marathon Trials. Ryan was one of America’s most decorated young distance runners, beginning at Central Lake High School in Michigan, through college at Notre Dame, and continuing into his professional career. Along the way he collected multiple Indoor and Outdoor titles, All-American honors, and team championships—his list of accomplishments literally keeps going and going. He was repeatedly referred to as a “Champion” on and off the course. The running community will dearly miss Ryan, but his impact on the sport will continue to live on. Our prayers are with his wife Alicia and the Shay family.
